Do you ever feel uninspired? Just sometimes or pretty much all of the time? Do you struggle going to work, or going to bed, or taking care of the normal every day things in life?
It may sound or look like this:
"I don't know where I'm going in life."
"I don't really know what I'm good at."
"Why does any of it matter?"
"I don’t feel excited about anything in life.”
"How can I make a difference?"
That was me about nine years ago while I was working for a startup that had been bought by a behemoth company. I tried really hard to fit in. I was chasing money, promotion, and recognition (aka "the American
way"), which felt increasingly inauthentic to me. Without comprehending why, I became dissatisfied, apathetic, and eventually burnt out.
And then...a shift occurred in 2016. I realized I could change my path. I HAD to change my path. Life is too short to be consumed and driven by pressure and expectations from others. So, I allowed myself to risk, to dream, to TRUST, and become empowered to try something new. I became half of a husband-wife entrepreneur duo in the cannabis-adjacent space. We built two successful businesses and had so much fun working together (a rarity, I know and appreciate!)
And then...another shift occurred in 2020. This time courtesy of a (legal) psylocibin/plant medicine experience. I received insights deep into my being (think body, mind and soul), about both my past and my future. I TRUSTed that I had to pursue a path based on my purpose. So, I learned some new things...not just one new thing, but a whole Master's of Science in Mind-Body Medicine. I knew I was here on the Earth to give more. To be of service. To help humankind, one person at a time if that's how it is meant to be.
And then...another(!) shift occurred in 2021. I started leaning in to a paradigm called Human Design. It is a system that encompasses quantum mechanics, iChing, Kabbalah, Chakras, and Astrology. For those aware of it, I am a 2/4 Splenic Projector with a single channel: I am designed to quickly and intuitively find ways to improve processes and systems, in particular related to human health and wellbeing, and to share those specific insights with people who invite me to, aka who are ready for change and growth. As a side note, embracing this framework has also helped me become a much more tuned in wife and mother, who hasn't yelled at the kids in years now.
Since then, the shifts occur at more rapid intervals and in closer succession. They are not always connected to one obvious change, as they sometimes come at 2 am where my mind suddenly just sees the world differently. Yet instead of being frustrated that I'm awake in the middle of the night, I TRUST that it's for a reason and to embrace all that comes to me in that sacred time. I now appreciate the small things to such a greater extent. I begin my day looking at the glorious sunrise (or fog, or clouds, or rain) surrounded by majestic cedars, and I say out loud with soul-filled gratitude: “this is the most amazing day of my life”
And I've been on a joyous spiral of dynamic expansion ever since!
